ok ladies and gents i am looking for a little advice- i just got my list of required tools for school and of course i need a stethoscope. the school didn't officially recommend one but the don said the littmanns lightwieght ii se is a good one. so i am torn between that one and a littmanns classic ii se because it is engravable and it is stainless steel. any thoughts or opinions please!!!

i too need to buy one soon, so i did a search and there is tons of info on the topic here in the site. i too invite you to do a search and see the reviews. my school recommends nothing too expensive as it will more than likely disappear. good luck. :)

Bought a $15 dollar one for school and treated myself to a Littman for a graduation present. I just find the sounds clearer with the Littman.
Been working five years and its never gone "walkies". But then I put hot pink nail polish on the metal bits.....:roll

If you can afford it and you want to treat yourself get the Littman that you want. I carried a cheap-o in school 12 years ago but I have noticed that more and more students are carrying nicer ones. Why not? Just keep your eyes on it so it doesn't walk away. Follow through with putting your name on it and ALWAYS remember to ask for it back should you lend it to a Doc who just needs to use it for "this one patient". I personally know of 3 docs with collections of scopes. Good luck in school!

I was given a nice and expensive Littman stethascope as a "congratulations" gift from my sister. The value is about $100. Then I heard that stethoscopes get misplaced and STOLEN!
I bought a cheap $11 Littman from the uniform shop and will use that one until I graduate. I would HATE to loose the nice one my sister bought me.
