The Interview Process

Published

How did your interview go? Did you get the job or not? How long did you have to wait to hear back from HR? I recently interviewed with NY Methodist Hospital and I thought it went really well, but it has been over a week and I have not heard back from them (I know that is not a good sign.) What has your experience been ?

In general, I usually am not offered the job because I perform poorly in interviews. I have a restricted affect and sometimes speak with a monotone voice, and these attributes turn the interviewer off to the possibility of hiring me. Also, I tend to draw blanks when asked even the simplest of questions. I have always felt a degree of "stage fright" when interviewing.

There's a lot of competition for jobs out there, and simply having the right degree, credentials and experience is not always enough. Candidates have to exude the "likeability factor" during the interview to reassure the recruiter or manager that they'll fit in with the workplace culture. Nowadays, the trend is to hire nurses for their personalities.

Sometimes I receive a rejection notice via email within a week of the interview. Sometimes I never hear anything.

Thanks for the reply, I think I rejection letter is better then not hearing back. I don't like that they just leave you hanging. This waiting thing is torture!

Was it a interview with a recruiter or nurse manager? Sometimes it takes a while for am offer to be made.... A week isn't that long.

It was with a recruiter, she said she wanted to set up an interview with the manager but they are going through internal applicants and then will be in touch about the available vacancy. So it's been a week and still no call back for the second interview.

I interviewed there for a L and D position and I took the pharmacy exam and met with the recruiter. I was immediately sent over to meet with the nurse manager. I thought the interview went well and told me to expect a call from HR in 2 weeks. Its not two weeks yet but I'm so nervous. If I was you I would call the recruiter and see what happens. The worst that can happen is that you get a no but that's better than not knowing.
