Hi everyone,
I'm from Ireland wanting to travel and work for a year. My friend has recently got offered a graduate programme in North Carolina and has asked me to go with her.
I'm newly qualified and have been in post now for 9 months working in Intensive Care.
Am I crazy in thinking of moving over with her? What is it like to work as a nurse over there? Would I find it difficult to find work?
Sorry, I have sooooo many questions.
Hope someone can give me some guidance and point me in the right direction.
Thanks :)

No clue as to an answer to your question, just had to say that I love your home country and of course think you're nuts for wanting to leave it. Don't you wish they had an exchange program for nurses where we could swap countries for a while? I'd happily take your spot in Ireland for a spell while you took mine in North Carolina. A girl can dream...

Me too!!!! I think you are definitely NOT crazy to do something like this. I would love to.
Not sure at all how you would go about getting here. I do know that we have a lot of nurses from all over the world where I work.
Off the top of my head, I think it would be a bit of a challenge with medications. I think there are many that are approved in Europe and not here and vice versa.
Caring and compassion make you a good nurse, the skills and tasks are easy to learn. Good luck and keep us posted if you come!!!!! I am of Irish descent and would love to go to Ireland someday.
