Textbook Advice

Published

I already ordered my textbooks, and they are being shipped to me right now. Last night, though, I got an e-mail from my statistics professor saying that we don't need the textbook for that class. I struggle a lot with math, so I almost think I should keep it just in case. On the other hand, I could get some money back if I return it to the book store. What would you do?

I'd return it. We didn't use a textbook in my stats class either because we were given print out power points instead. One of the students had rented the book anyway and she told us it didn't make a difference for her personally. Of course it's your choice in the end, but if it were me, I'd return it and save the money.

Thanks for the input, that's probably what I'm going to do.

My stats teacher told us on the first day of class that we didn't need the textbook... All we needed were the lecture notes we took in class and there was an online copy of the textbook that we could look at on our online homework portal. I'd wait a class to make sure, but honestly I'd return it.

Return the textbook and get your money back.

If you need a free statistics textbook, check out openstax (not sure on the policy of posting links, so google it! :p ) - Openstax is an amazing initiative that is putting college level textbooks in the hands of students for free. They've got all kinds of subjects covered, including statistics. :)

If you download the pdf, you can even stick it on your phone, or ipad, laptop, whatevs and have it on hand when you need it!
