Tests for online classes???

I am half through UW's online program. There have been test in all the courses I have taken, but one. Most are online, open book with a specified amt of time that you can take the exam. Some of the test are not easy, even if they are open book. I am taking stats and the exams are proctored - I go to the community college's testing center. There are just as many assignments and you are expected to participate as much if not more than if you were in the classroom. Hope this helps!!:)

I'm in Florida Hosp. College but have just finished only one course. Our grade is primarily based on papers. There also is a participation component as well as somes quizzes. The quiz is given out ahead of time, so it's more like an assignment, rather than a test. The second class I'm in, Chemistry, has exams that are open book and we have usually 24-36 hours to complete it and either email it in or fax it in, and this is 90% of our grade.

I've also had online courses at St. Petersburg College that tests as described above. They were timed once you started and you only had a certain number of minutes to finish, so you'd best know your stuff, or know where to quickly look it up. Having cable internet, I was able to have several screens open at once and quickly look up an answer or too, or have my books ready.

Internet courses are hard work.

I've seen how hard my DH has worked getting the hang on the online classes. He's never been in a traditional classroom setting so I was a little apprehensive when he started. It's definitely a lot of work, but I think the convenience of not having to go to class in the middle of winter, etc. will be a great asset.
