Test nursing

Published

Hey yall!

what are some ways or techniques to improve your nursing school test exams? I have tried everything I read befor class and after I do the nursing objs for the chp, I study ati and nclex questions. I follow a guideline for studying. But when it comes to the tests the questions and answers I need more help with focusing. This is my first semester so I need to improve! Thank you for any help!

You're first year student and it is your first semester? I wont suggest facing NCLEX already because you don't know everything yet. It will only confuse you. Everyone have different study techniques. Me, I study at the night. Reasons: quite which I can concentrate, I eat chocolate or candy ( as what they say, sugar is the food of the brain), drink coffee or soda ( keeps me awake). I read books and understand it first before I memorize. I usually don't read when I'm class. I give time to my brain to relax before taking the test. I'm confident that informations are all in my brain but I just have to have it out. I don't rush when taking test.

Hope I helped^^:heartbeat

Can you clarify what you mean when you say "i need more help with focusing"? Fro example, do you mean that you have trouble concentrating during exams? Are you misreading questions?

Hey! that is true about the nclex questions and I am having a hard time reading the question and selecting the answer. I can't figure out the way to answer bc I know the material.

Fundamentals Success by Vitale is a really good book.

Before you answer a question..make sure you understand what it is asking. I underline the main question and circle important words (ie: first, best). Take your time. I have to read each question atleast 3 times. Nursing questions can be tricky..you have to make sure you know what it's asking!!

Good luck! And try talking to your professors..they usually give great advice.

Thank you all so much! Yes, the professors are a great help when I am having alot of questions, but I got down on myself due to the test results. I know it and I just do not look into the question and break it down like I should that is why I am having so many mistakes. Thank you all for the advice:nurse:
