Test in 11 days, do I have enough time?

I have just finished registering for the Teas exam and ordering my TEAS V study guide (which should arrive in 3 days). I was planning on waiting until next year to take the test until after I'd taken A&P I and II and basic chemistry. Kind of last moment I decided to just go for it this year. I have two chances to take it at my school. So my question is, if I have basically 12 days to study, 9 with the TEAS V study guide, will I make it? Of course I realize there is no true way for anyone here to know this, but how are my odds. I feel pretty confident in the math and reading, and somewhat confident in the science. I have not taken chemistry or A&P I/II, but I have a decent foundation in biology. I feel both scared and hopeful, and very scared of getting my hopes up.[/quote']

Well. If you're strong in those other areas that's definitely a plus BUT keep in mind there are 54 science questions and on my particular exam a ton of those came from chemistry and a&p 2 primarily. That's a lot of info to teach yourself in a short time.

I don't know how your school looks at the scores. My school isn't concerned with science as long as reading math and total are at least 63. SOOO I think it all depends on your abilities as well as what your school deems Important on the teas.

I only get two tries as well. That alone gives me intense anxiety.

How much time will you have in the remaining days once your book arrives?

Take as much time as you can to study. My advice with the book is to read it cover to cover with little Post It tabs. Mark everything you need to go back and review (you can even color code it by importance of how much you need to review it). Then take the time to go over just that stuff. I took two days and focused solely on the book and scored a 96% the first time around. You will likely really want to go over the chem/anatomy/physiology stuff (some of the stuff on the exam wasn't in the book, but that was only a couple of questions, as I recall), since you haven't taken those courses. You'll want to know what the main functions of the organs are and have a sense of their anatomy.

Study hard, and really nail it the first time.

I got my study guide and studied hard for the week preceding the test. I took the test on Saturday and scored a 90%. I'm really happy with that. I had done both practice exams in the back of the book, and was scoring in the 80 to 85 range, so I was surprised to see I'd done so well. I was very fortunate that there were not too many A&P or chemistry questions (and the ones that were there I was pretty familiar with). The test seemed heavy on genetics questions, and I just took genetics last semester, so that was a definite boost!

So now the question is, is 90% good enough to get into my nursing school?

The schools policy is to weigh teas scores with a personal essay and with you GPA. My GPA is pretty high (3.7ish), but this is a pretty competitive program.

Off for weeks and have taken all classes except micro and didn't score near that high. You should be very proud of yourself and I think that's enough for any nursing school!
