please tell me how i cauld know which medications ( tablets) should give before or after meals . there is a lot of mediactions. and there is no information i was found inside the leaflet on each drug.

I would recommend that you contact a pharmacist and he/she should be able to give you accurate information about that.

Oh and since I wasn't sure if this was a question for you personally or as a nurse--if you are a nurse you can get this info in a nurses drug guide-- but if ever in doubt the pharmacist is the best source for that kind of info.

Going based off of my nursing experience, the medications I tend to give out that are with meals are Geodon, Metformin, Insulin (for IDDM patients) and Iron tablets. I would think that patient leaflet/handouts would tell you if a medication has a specific timing, but if all else fails, I think it's something most drug books would take note of. :)

I second the drug book :). Most of the ones I've seen have something like "Give without regard for meals" or "Do not administer within 4 hours after administering Fe, Ca, or Al containing medications", etc.

Pharmacy sometimes flags things like that on our bubble packs, but they can always answer any questions as well. :)
