Hi,

I have my interview for the LPN program at TECO in Kissimmee in less than two weeks. I was wondering if anyone here went to TECO and what you thought of the program and school in general? What did you like or dislike about it? Also, if you remember what their interview questions were like? I am nervous about the questions like what are your strengths and weaknesses or why you chose this school. Any advice?

Thanks,

Hey,

I haven't started there yet but I had my interview on the 28th of may (boy was that rough!) and just got my acceptance letter last week (The wait time for a response is enough to drive you crazy!). The interview was tough, not because the questions were, but because of the disposition of the nurses. I get the feeling they didn't like me very much but then again I did get in (yay!) so maybe they do that to see how well you react under pressure. These are some of the things they asked:

1) Tell me about yourself...

2) In one word, what is your best attribute?

3) Why do you want to be a nurse?

4) What does an LPN's responsibilitys consist of?

5) What sets LPN's apart from other nurses?

6) On a ratio of 100% what percentage is the student responsible for their success and what percentage is the teacher responsible?

7) From reviewing your transcripts we see that your weakest area of study is _____. How do you plan to overcome that?

8) What are some challenges you may face attending TECO and how will you overcome them?

I think that pretty much covers it but i'm sure they ad lib. If I think of anything else I will let you know. Are you doing full time or part time? I have been dying to meet someone else doing this program. Please let me know how it goes and keep in touch. Hopefully I will see you at orientation next month.

Good Luck !!

Thanks. I am planning on going full time if I get accepted. But I also heard (yesterday) that they do not have student loans available so if this is true I may have to put it off for a while as I haven't had a steady income since moving to this part of FL. in January. UGH, three weeks to know if you're accepted or not that would drive me crazy! If all goes well I will see you in July for orientation. Good luck to you and congratulations.

Graduating TECO in three weeks.

Answered some questions here.. https://allnurses.com/forums/f141/info-orlando-area-lpn-programs-300232-2.html

Good luck !

Carintouch,

I went to TECO last week, took tabe and net, and passed them both with good scores. Then I went to take the drug screenning and went bach to talk to the coordinator, a very nice lady called Trina, she accepted my application and told me I would receive a call from her as soon as the drug screening results got back. So I still have to prepare for the interview correct? I got the impression that i would only have to go to orientation, wich I think is July 21st....

You will have an interview with Mrs B and Mrs W, the 2 classroom instructors. They are both AWESOME !

I just got back from my interview and man you were right; I left there feeling like they didn't like me and nothing I could have said would have made a difference. I felt that way mostly from the one asking the questions the other one didn't say much. They said they were finishing up their interviews and I should get a letter in a week or so. I am so nervous. I heard they had 39 interviews and only 22 spots left!

Congratulations on getting in. Hopefully I will see you at orientation in a couple weeks.

How did you find that out ? When I was there everyone (staff) answered everything with "sorry, but im not allowed to disclose that info."!!! It was sooo frustrating! :banghead: And exactly how you described your interview is exactly how I felt leaving it so don't feel too bad. I got home and called everyone and told them I didn't get in and I was so depressed :crying2: but it was over nothing. Anyway, 22 spots is ALOT! They only accept 35!! But then again I could see how it would be scary that there are so many seats left seeing as they began interviewing in MAY!! They probably just want to go over everyone fairly, and I think you have a good shot so don't worry. I know it's easier said than done and you're probably going to go the next week or so going absolutely crazy anyway!! LOL!

Make sure you keep me posted on whether or not you get in.

Good Luck!!

Good Luck !

I was told at my interview "You will get a letter in 5 days".

(It was here in 3.) I was afraid to open it for several hours, thinking I didn't make it.

Now look at me - 9 days till graduation !

Teco only accepts 30 students per class, thats all they are allowed to have.

Trina, (I think shes a secretary..?) told me that they have raised it to 35 to accomodate growing demand and the new 15 seat increase in valencia's RN program...Is that's not true? If so, why are they so frickin' secretive at that school? LOL

Hmm. They never mentioned it to our class, could be tho. My class didnt even fill up.

REALLY??? They made it seem like sooo many people apply and its nearly impossible to get in!! I thought for each program they had like 200 applicants!! I guess not!
