I took the TEAS today...

I felt Math, Reading, and English were all very basic (I scored in the 99th percentile in each of these).

Science; however, was a completely different case. I totally bombed, despite scoring 100% in the Human Body Science section.

If your Chemistry is rusty...Study, Study, Study!!! I'm retaking the exam tomorrow and cramming Chemistry all night long. Ugh.

I mean I did ok in all areas its just this test is really making me nervous... Good luck with the chem... I know how cramming can suck :uhoh3: Well I hope you get a better grade and I hope I pass too!!!

hey I have a question.

When studying for the TEAS did any of you purchase a study guide, that you thought was helpful or necessary? Cause I'd prefer to study a paper copy, rather than questions on the internet. Please let me know, as to if its worth buying a study guide. I recently purchased a guide for the NET test, but that test covers the basics. :heartbeat

Thanks!

I took the TEAS again today after cramming the Chem all night long. I brought my Science score up by 48 points and my National/Program rank went from 95th to 97th percentile. I'm unbelievably relieved.

ablilmonkey: I don't feel like the ATI study manual went into enough detail in the science portion. I'm probably repeating what a lot of people have said already, but brush up on:

Commonly Misspelled Words

Atomic Structure

Basics of Periodic Table

Ratio/Proportion Math problems

Punctuation (particularly with parentheses)

Metric/English Conversions (teaspoons, tablespoons, ounces, cups, liters, gallons, mL, Liters, pounds, kilograms)

Know how to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit and vice versa

Know the formula for Density

That's all I can think of right now.. I'm pretty drained (I just finished the test 30 mins ago)

Is there a website I can go for TEAS practice questions that gives explanations of the answers? I have been using testpreview.com but all it tells is the correct answer and not how to go about finding it. I have to take the TEAS next week and that stupid no calculator rule for math is killing me.

I am scheduled to take the test on March 28th. I too am soooo freaked out I can cry every time I think about the test. I have looked over the Pre-Test Study Manual and when looking at the math and the science, I think who am I kidding, I can't do this, I have been out of school for over 20 years. But after reading all of the other comments, I think there might be a slight chance I can to this. I am having a hard time finding time to study, I work 12 hours shifts and have a family to raise. There is not enough time in the day. Any suggestions one would have would be greatly appreciated. Should I focus more on the math with the %, fractions and metric? Please say a prayer for me my time is coming up.

I know what you mean about not having time to study. I have 4 kids and the only time I can study is after they go to bed at night. It sucks sometimes but I am determined to make it happen. I've fought long and hard to get this far. Not giving up now! I feel good about everything except the math. I'm going to focus on ratios and conversions. The rest I feel ok.

I took the test yesterday, and I feel the same way. I think I got 2 questions right in the science section. (I took the paper and pencil test, so I won't actually know for weeks). The other sections were way easier to me. I'm taking the TEAS again next month, and I'm going to brush up on my science, especially chemistry.

When I took it the second time the Science section was soooooo much easier... Its unbelievable how much it seems to vary from test to test.

I hope that the same happens to me. I'm taking A & P now, but most of the questions seemed to be about chemistry and earth science.

I took my TEAS last month and am taking it again on March 25th. I know exactly what I need to work on which is in Math and Science, but I am having a hard time trying to figure out how to study for the science portion. I got a 100% on General Science, 80% on Life Science, and 80% on Human Body and my Chemistry & Physics scores were so low I'd rather not say. My overall score in Science was 66% so that's how low those scores were.

I have no clue where to even begin studying for those sections. I checked out a few chemistry and physics books but none of the information seems relevant. Any ideas on how to study for these areas?!

Thanks so much. I'm hoping to improve my crappy score of 78%. :crying2:

I was in the same situation the first time I took the TEAS. I did very well in all other sections except science and scored an 89.4. In addition to the the ATI guide I bought a guide from Kaplan called Nursing Entrance Exams, 2nd Edition. The science portion in this book is very extensive and covers a lot of chemistry, way more than the ATI. After going through the Kaplan guide I carefully went back through the ATI and the questions on the practice test just started to make so much more sense to me. So the Kaplan helped me a great deal, I raised my score in the science portion from a 67 to an 88, and my overall score to a 92. Also do a google search on basic physics and this should bring up some sites that explain force, gravity, density, velocity, and other things that aren't explained very well in the ATI manual. Good luck!
