TEAS test and the Kaplan

Though I do not have any experience with the Kaplan test, I would highly recommend checking out the this of allnurses dedicated to taking the TEAS test. I personally found some incredible advice on there and YouTube (Blossom With Jessica is great or just look up TEAS 6 or some variation of it). I felt like they helped to steer me in the right direction.

Ideally, give yourself plenty of time to study especially if you are not the strongest person academically or have not taken the sciences yet. I used the Mometrix book as I got it from a friend for free and various TEAS apps. Mometrix has videos that help to explain some of the concepts better or in more detail. If there are things you are confused about look them up more. With the sciences, I would dive into a little deeper than what the book gives you. Cover the entire book. Do not assume that any of the sections will come to you naturally.

Also, I would also say buy the two practice tests offered by ATI. The first time I took each test was focused on practicing them as a timed test. The correct answer is given right away. If you want to review the ones you missed, you can either do it on your second attempt or once you complete each section. Make sure to also use a timer on your phone (test timer counts down from 8 hours) and the calculator on the test. My actual test calculator was a wee bit different, but it was still helpful to have used one. The practice test will be one at a time whereas the actual will have several on a page You can also go back to any questions you skipped on the actual exam. If you decide to buy the practice exams, I would recommend doing one before you start studying to see the area(s) that you are the weakest in. Use this to help you study. Take the last test a day or two before your actual exam. I hammered in practice questions until about an hour before my exam and then cut myself off to relax.

While I can't speak for the ATI study guide, I think Mometrix, my previous knowledge, reading the rationales, and the practice tests both in the Mometrix book and from ATI helped me. I did not study nearly as much as I wanted to and took it at my school where they only accept the first score. My nerves were a little shaken, but overall I was able to get a 92.0% overall. This test isn't tough, but you have to prepare for it. Best wishes!
