TEAS Help!

Hi everyone!

I just joined and was hoping I could get some advice. I took the TEAS test in January and missed the 65% requirement by 0.3%. I'm taking it again at the end of March and this is the last time I can take it for the school I want to get into. I did bad in math and science, and I was wondering if anyone had study tips they could share? This time around I am studying with flashcards and it seems to be helping me retain information. Science is the subject I did the worst on. I got an 80% on human body science, but everything else I am lost in.

Also, my school said that if I didn't retake the test I would be on hold until the application deadline in April. Do you think that if I got lower than my previous score of 64.7% they wouldn't accept me? The other requirements are fine - it was just the TEAS score that wasn't their acceptable level. Should I retake the test or cancel and hope for the best? It is my number one choice for nursing school, and the other schools in my area use PSB tests, so right now this school is the only one I'm applying for. I don't want to screw up!

Hello, I'm taking mine tomorrow as well and I'm soooooo stressed about it. My school has a average of 90 or better, so I starting to doubt I will get in . I heard the math is the same as the book, you just need to make sure u know how to do each one of the questions. My worst subject is math and with all the practice I'm doing much better! Science is really hard, too much to memorize it sucks. I'll let u know tomorrow if I did good and if my studying method worked. I'm studying from the ati book and the McGraw hill 5 practice tests book! What can u tell me about the science portion ?

I took the TEAS twice. I prepared for about six weeks in advance - bought the ATI study manual and ATI practice on-line tests (forms A and B). I also reviewed a lot of Science topics on the internet and youtube - mitosis and meiosis, cell structure/biology, kidney filtration, etc. The first TEAS try, I spent a little too much time on the Reading portion (first part of the test) and was unable to finish! So, make sure you really watch the time and allow time to go back to any questions you skipped!! Leave nothing unanswered. Anyway, the other sections I did well on. I took the test again two weeks later (which was very similar to my first test though questions mixed up in order per subject) and got Advanced level of proficiency. I felt the Reading, Math and Grammar are very similar to the ATI study manual - just know the stuff well. The Science covers topics in the ATI study manual - though you will need to know these topics in greater detail for tha actual test! Know mitosis/meiosis, cell structure, know a lot about scientific theory and research methods/critical thinking, punnett squares, chemical reactions/bonds. Science is the toughest, though if you study the topics in the ATI study manual in greater detail and use your "critical thinking skills" you can score well in this section. Take practice tests and learn from areas you score weak in and re-review.

i need to take mine before december of this year.. any advice from ppl who have taken it to where i eed ot study or get stufy materials.. im broke and have no money wat so ever so any help would be good thank you!!!

This exam really does get harder every year. I missed my required score 75% for SDSU by 3 points.

Thank you for all the replies! It turns out that after all this stress & worrying, I don't need to take it again! The school called me and said they decided that missing the required score by 0.3% was sufficient for them! Good luck to everybody who is taking the test. I recommend spending the most studying time on science, and maybe taking a biology class before taking the test (or at least reading a biology/chemistry book, which explains concepts so much better than the ATI study guide, which just touches on each subject matter in as little detail as possible). I was studying science and math like crazy for my second try at the test, and now that I don't have to take it anymore, I will still be studying.
