Hello all!
Ive just applied to the nursing program at TCU for the fall of 2016. I was just wondering if anyone else is looking for a forum to communicate with others that are in the same boat. A little information about myself: I am a current student at TCU that just transferred from Weatherford College. I have 3 more prerequisites to complete before nursing school starts. My overall GPA Is a 3.3 and I have received an A in both A&P courses, B in Microbiology, B in nutrition, and an A in Intro to psychology. I am scheduled to take the HESI A2 test on January 13th, in which I will have to update my NursingCAS afterwards. Also, I am a 4 year Army veteran and a current member of the reserve component as a Medic. I hold a EMT license as well.
Hopefully my chances are good lol. I'm looking to hear from many of you!

Hey Dustin! I've been trying to find other people in the same boat as well. I submitted my application for the accelerated BSN program a few days ago. I graduated from TCU with a BA in journalism in 2013 and got a lot of clinical experience as a scribe before deciding on which path to take into the medical field. TCU is home for me but the program has been my dream since I realized I wanted to become an RN (and eventually DNP). I'm already dying to hear back from admissions! Have you toured the facilities? I haven't seen them since pre-renovation stage several years ago.
That's awesome! Finally someone responds lol. I am dying to know as well! I got a 82 on the HESI A2 so hopefully that didn't ruin my chances. The only experience I have with the nursing building is that I have my Human Growth class on the first floor lol I haven't gotten the opportunity to go upstairs.
I bet you'll be fine with your military and EMT experience! One of the great things about TCU is that they're very fair and practical--I bet experience like that factors in a great deal to their decision. Are you graduating from TCU with a degree in another field before the program starts in August? I'm hoping the department will offer an on-campus info session soon just because I'm desperate to see the facilities haha but that will just get me even more excited than I already am! I live close and drive by the Bass building almost every day on the way to work. DYING to get my purple scrubs and start the program! Lol
Nursing will be my first degree! I wanted to apply to the accelerated program, and I had all the requirements to do so without a bachelors degree, but I figured that I should take it slow and go the traditional route. BUT looking at past forums, the accelerated students find out if they were accepted before the traditional students do so that's a plus for you! Lol.... I've been looking for information on when we could take a tour! It suppose to be unbelievably nice! I can't wait to wear the scrubs either lol
Has your application been verified with NursingCAS yet?

Hey guys! I submitted my application yesterday. I am applying to TWU and TCU, and even though TCU isn't my first choice, I hope to be accepted by either. My HESI score is a 90 with a 96 in both math and reading. The problem is my GPA.
A&P I: A
A&P II: B
Micro: C:(
Stats: B
Sociology: A
Psych: C:(
Human Dev: A
Nutrition: A
I don't know how they are calculating my GPA, but wither way... I have too many C's.
Good luck to you guys!
Hey aritter4! Those scores are awesome! Your GPA will be calculated pretty much the same as you would do it. I downloaded an app on my iPhone called "My GPA" and it calculated the same GPA that NursingCAS did. They will calculate all grades course work. Hopefully NursingCAS will be able to completely verify your application before Feb. 1st!
Here is an update on my grades/scores:
HESI A2-
Overall: 82.8
Reading comp: 84
Grammar: 70
Vocab & GK: 84

What do you mean completely verified? My transcripts are already verified, if that's what you mean. By the way, thank you for your service. My husband served 4 years in the army and is national guard now.
Yeah that's what I meant lol. I thought since you applied yesterday that it hasn't been verified yet, I applied a month ago and it finally finished the verifying process today. Your very much welcome, I enjoyed it. Your husband sounds like he took the same path I did lol except he went to the guard and I went to the reserve after active duty.
Oh no, I'm sorry. I was a little confusing. I actually completed my application about a month ago. My transcripts were verified at the end of December. I just didn't submit it until I was sure I wanted to apply to TCU. I just paid yesterday is all. Where were you stationed? We were in Fort Benning. Sorry to get off the subject of nursing. lol
I was at Fort Hood lol
