TCRN

Hello fellow nurses.

I am currently studying for the TCRN. Because I am bad with test taking, I looked for additional practice tests but didn't find any.

Does anyone here know of any?

    I didn't really find a lot of the practice tests to be very helpful, although I only did a couple that were through my hospital. I thought the study guide from STN was very helpful.

    There is a small flip book from the TCAR program people: Trauma Nursing TCRN

    Also, there is a (free?) app only for iOS devices from STN that has sample questions. (Android user here, but I used it on my boss's phone to quiz her before her exam.) Jeff Solheim's review manual has some sample questions as well, and while these aren't sample questions, these are still in a "pearls" format: All 4 Trauma Pocket Pearls — Solheim Enterprises

    If you haven't worked outside of the ED, I would suggest focusing on some of the material further along the trauma continuum, like longer-term complications (abdominal compartment syndrome, for example) and organ donation. Also have an understanding of how performance improvement (PI) works in trauma centers (levels of review, etc.).

    In a way it's more focused than the CEN because it's only trauma, but then again it is more broad because it goes from resus through rehab and includes professional issues like performance improvement (PI) - so beyond the ER. I took it as a beta tester when Jeff Solheim did, and he passed just fine too. :) I am sure his course will be helpful. I would also review your TNCC book. Good luck!

    I highly recommend Jeff Solheim's Online TCRN review! Organized by each system and covers every exam content. I did buy STN's studyguide book but didn't uze it.

    I used Solheim's lectures and TNCC book and it was successful! Good luck!!!!
