taking time off from school

Hi everyone!

Just looking for a little advice :-) I just finished the LPN portion of an RN program, and have decided to exit the program and finish later when my children are older. I am pregnant and due this summer and with being home with my other two and also homeschooling, it was just all too much! I just want to enjoy my little ones while they are still little! So my dilemma is that when I talked to the school today they told me that I could start the LPN-RN program down the road, but I would need 2000 hours of LPN experience. I wasn't planning on looking for a job since the whole point of taking a break from school was to focus on my children...and I am thinking that looking for a job when pregnant wouldn't be the easiest either. So now I feel like I am going to be sunk when I look for an LPN job down the road. I have no health care experience (I was a teacher prior to having children) and I really have no connections. All of the LPN jobs I see now are full-time during the day, which obviously wouldn't work. Even the ltc jobs are just too many hours. If I am going to work that much I might as well be in school! I guess I was thinking that I could take several years off and then finish the program. Well, I was wrong! So tricky balancing career and family. I guess I should have waited and done the whole program after my kids were grown, but I just didn't know how it would all work out. Are my chances pretty much slim to none when it comes to getting an LPN job years after i get my LPN license? I am thinking so. What is a mama to do?

I forgot to mention that I am working as a private duty caregiver once a week. I was hoping that I could find an LPN private duty job, but everyone has told me that I should get other LPN experience first....
