Taking TEAS before physiology

Published

Hello everyone. Do you need to take physiology before taking the TEAS or will studying from ATI's book and using their practice tests be enough? I noticed on the TEAS website that on August 31, 2016, they are going to scrap the TEAS V and start administering a new ATI TEAS which will require a new study book and make the one I bought this year obsolete. If I wait to take physio in the fall before taking the TEAS, I would have to spend a lot of money again buying the new book and start studying all over again with the new material, so I am considering taking the TEAS in August before that date so I can use the TEAS V score to apply to programs. I have taken every science pre req (taking micro this semester) besides physiology. I'm planning to take physio in the summer, but I do not think any of the cc that are in reasonable driving distance to me are going to offer it in the summer. Thanks for reading.

You will only be tested on the information from the book. Taking the class prior would help because you have the general knowledge base, but literally everything you need is in that book.

Thanks for the reply. What do you think the average study time for the TEAS is? I found a CC that offers physio in the summer for 5 weeks (4 days a week, 8 hours 2 days a week because of lab) and I am considering taking the class to meet the Spring '17 deadline for the schools I am preparing to apply to. I am going to have 5 or 6 weeks to study if I decide to try to meet that deadline, that should be more than enough time right?

I took about a week before the teas to study and I got 83 %. I had not taken physio before I took the teas. I only used the ATI practice tests from amazon. You can get them for around $20. In regards to your physio class question. If you feel up for it, I say take the 6 week course. I wish I could take a 6 week phys course. I like fast paced classes. If you are self didactic and you give yourself an extra week before the class and finish the book before the class starts (that's how I would aproach the class) You could easily get an A and be ready to apply in the fall.

Best of luck to you.

I believe it's very possible to pass the TEAS prior to physiology. Everything on the science portion of the TEAS is in the ATI Manual, but that doesn't mean to stop at the manual though. Study study study study! Read over each topic, watch videos online ( I like Kahn academy ), and google anything you may be unsure about. I took the TEAS two days ago and it was VERY randomized on the science section, you really don't know what to expect! I had about half Anatomy & Physiology and half chemistry. Understand that you can still get a great score on the over all TEAS score if you do really well on the english, reading, and math, regardless of the science :) So make sure you know the other three sections really well also. Good luck!!!

I took the teas before physiology and I did just fine. You mostly have to know the flow of blood through the heart, the digestive system, respiratory and the lymph system.

This isn't true because the science section of the TEAS is all over the place. The manual doesn't cover every aspect, but I suggest OP that you go through every section in a popular study guide by rainbow posted in the TEAS forums

I remember seeing A&P for a good amount of it. So honestly, taking it could've definitely helped.
