Taking the CNA training was

I have to say, I'm glad that I took this training course. There was more to learn than I thought, but it was very interesting. :yeah:

We are at the nursing home now for clinicals. I was with this sweet little lady Tuesday and I was trying to get her to eat. She had an oxygen treatment going on, so we had to wait until that was done and when it was she was just so tired. She ate very little and kept apologizing and I had to tell her not to worry, she had done nothing wrong. Turned out she just wanted me to hold her hand for a while and I did, while she fell asleep. Then she would pop up and smile, then fall back asleep. I don't have to go in until next Tuesday, but I was thinking about going in just to see her for a minute. I can see why CNAs (some) get attached.:heartbeat

This was a good experience.

I'm still nervous about the nursing though! lol:eek:

Good luck everyone!

Wow. That is so cool. I have my first clinicals next weekend and I hope that I get someone like that. I think that that is awesome that your "first patient" was a nice old lady vs. a really mean, bitter one. I bet this totally sets your mood for continuing in this field.

Some people may have forgotten, but I think this is what nursing is all about; caring. Nowadays, you hear about some cnas stealing from the pts, and even abusing them. I give you major props!!! Good luck @ the test. :w00t:

I am elated that your clinical experience has been a positive one. With that attitude and a heart as yours, you will, without a doubt, be successful in this field. :) I've earned my credentials as a CNA back in May 2010... and it is one thing that I am most proud of. My clinical experience was great and I loved it. It was a wonderful learning experience and a lot of hard work. I commend you for wanting to become a CNA... however, don't just stop there. Further your education and apply all the knowledge/material you have learned. I believe that many people are forgetting what being a CNA is all about. It is more than a job, a pay check - it is a calling. :)
