what it takes for the ER

I've always planned on working in the ER someday and had more momentum behind me 1 year ago. I had to move and so had to take a job on the floor, a lower acuity surg/tele floor, compared to what I have done in the past. I've worked on a cardiac step down unit about a year and a half ago.

Anyway, I applied for a transfer and am worried that I wouldn't be able to function in the ER, because I've been working at a slower pace over the last year. I've heard the pace is insane. I'm so bored and tired of floor nursing. I'm also worried about failure and leaving the comfort of the familiar.

I really want to be enthusiastic about my work again. How will I know if I am making a good decision?

You won't know unless you try it. Everything else is imagination.
