tablet for class

I'm looking into buying a tablet/laptop such as the surface pro 3 for school. I just started term 2 for LPN/LVN and I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on what worked best for them.

I use my iPad a lot for books, calculator, and some note taking and use my laptop for writing papers. Other than that, I use paper and pen for majority of my note taking and homework. I think a laptop/tablet combo is a good, inexpensive alternative instead of getting both a tablet and laptop. It'll be useful.

I can enthusiastically recommend the Surface Pro. It is much more flexible than other tablets, with plenty of USB ports for add-ons. I also really like the 'full action' keyboard as opposed to the thinner lighter one. With the addition of an inexpensive DVD/CD drive, you'll have everything that a full featured laptop has... except the bulk and weight. It's easy to tote around - easily fits into a large purse. I also 'blinged it up with a decorative skin to match the keyboard - very cute.

Another nice feature of the Surface Pro... it comes with a fine tip stylus. With appropriate software, you can easily take handwritten notes, draw or sketch. I do this in OneNote & PaintShop Pro.

I dont think the 2 vs 3 is going to have a HUGE impact. Is the $$ at all a consideration? Also before you buy make sure any e-books or programs you wish to run or will use often are compatible. I was going to buy a tablet for school, but honestly with my laptop at home and using the school library I have yet to feel like Im missing something.
