(this might have been posted else where, but I couldn't find it) I have some extra time to take classes over the summer, I was wondering what classes would be most beneficial to me if I plan on applying to nurse anesthetist school? (ie physics, o-chem (not intro to o-chem))
Thanks

Different schools have different requirements. Most want A&P and organic/biochemistry with lab. Some want statistics, some want physics. Check the AANA website for a list of schools by state. Each school has a link to their website from that page. Good luck!
Ok. And I was also wondering about just any undergraduate classes that seemed to help during CRNA school. I guess the class that student CRNAs thought, "I'm glad I took "blah blah blah" before I went to CRNA school"

I was wondering about this, too. It looks like a few schools in california require an intro physics class. I also posted about what I thought schools would want to see, what people thought was helpful, etc. I think that the natural world all boils down to chemistry, doesn't it? That's what's been the most helpful for me, and if I could, I'd take more chemistry classes.

I agree taking all the chem and a physic class will definately help. I also think statistics looks great on your application. Other than that I think that a research class would be helpful. I am taking a few classes for anesthesia school that aren't anesthesia based and they all have to do with research, critiquing research articles, etc. I was also asked a couple of questions regarding research in my interview. They asked if I had every participated or worked on a research project.

It is really school specific. I know that ASU wants you to take a graduate level statistics course prior to starting and will accept a transferred Graduate level Research Methodology and Theory of Nursing. I know that these two courses are a part of most MSN programs and can be obtained online. Otherwise many other schools I looked into want core sciences. They say that although O-chem or biochem isn't always required, they do help.
Hope this helps.

Okay, I'm not in CRNA school yet but I can tell you that Cellular Physiology is the ABSOLUTE BEST class I have ever taken. I've had all my chems, O Chems and Physics. I'm sure that they are all relevant to CRNA school and I will be glad that I took them :stone . However, Cell Phys has brought together all the patho-phys and pharmacology I have ever learned! If you understand things at the cellular level, you can put the other pieces into place!
Okay, so enough evangelizing about Cell Phys! Good luck in whatever you take! I love school. (I'm such a nerd.... )

My program required Statistics for entry. they also asked what other classes i have taken during my interview. Ask your director and see what he reccommends.

The more of the MSN classes you get out of the way the more time you have for the anesthesia study

Like what classes? (I know stupid question)
Hey
Well all the MSN core classes or the Masters core classes (if not applying to a school with an MSN). For instance, i took informatics, health policy and epidemiology. So 3 of them are all done before i even start. Took em all online too!

Are "nursing research" classes standard courses in a BSN curriculum? I notice a lot of schools require that class
