Needing advice in regards to being a supervisor in a small rual clinic. When I was first hired, I was the RN in our Infusion Room. I had all the responsibility not only for the infusion room but also radiology. Including accessing all ports, doing all PICC's, and administrating sedation. Now, I am a supervisor over multiple areas with in the clinic and a satalite clinic AND still working in Infusion Room. I am behind on supervisor duties daily but my boss seems to think I should not be having issues. There are 3 other supervisors within the clinic and they each have there own office and do not have to work another job like I do. I am at a loss. I have brought this to my boss attention multiple times but do not get any results. I want to just throw my towel in and say forget it. Any advice...

So... basically, your boss has shown inflexibility and an unwillingness to care that you cannot do your job in the posted hours since you are providing direct patient care. I am in a similar situation, but I decided to no longer waste my breath explaining my situation. I realized that managers of those of us who provide direct patient care AND are expected to perform the duties and responsibilities of management during our shift, know that they are not being honest with us or themselves when they state an expectation of us completing all of our work during our shift without having to put in overtime.

If you really want to keep this job, either work it out with the manager to split the responsibilities you have with the other supervisors or you need to go to work early and/or stay late to get your administrative tasks done. Otherwise, you may wish to look for another job. I am working on a promotion...
