Stars it sounds like you are giving your friend good advice, I hope she acts on it

Hi Tweety

Yesterday was mostly about getting the new cat, too rainy for bird watching. The cat I was looking at originally turned out to be much older than I had thought, 12 years old, and I don't want to go through another cat death in a few years after having done that earlier this year. The other one I was looking at was part of a pair, and I didn't want to get a pair. The web site the shelter uses apparently has some inaccurate information

I told the shelter staff what I was looking for and they introduced me to some cats who fit...adult cat who aren't a bonded pair and house trained and spayed/neutered. The first cat I met, Bleu, was the most affectionate and had been there the longest, since March. So I decided to go with him

Things have gone well. After hiding out for 2 or 3 hours he began to explore and eat and drink and use the litter boxes and such. Very affectionate cat, does demand a fair amount of attention. Which I prefer over a more standoffish cat. Was pleased he did not wake me up last night. He's orange and in my experience they tend to be more attention seeking. My 2nd cat was orange too, although he was rather neurotic while this one isn't

Did some cooking yesterday for the cookout today

Today will go to church, we're having a shared service at a nearby church. They came to our church last month and their minister preached, so this Sunday we're going to their church and our minister will preach. Thought about skipping it to go bird watching but figure it's important to show up so I'll go. This afternoon we have the cookout at my sister's friend's place. In between will do the cooking for the week

Rain finally stopped, will be nice today in the mid 70s

Heavy rains early this morning, then it cleared and got sunny and hot, and the humidity is always a given. I got out to Walmart while many folks were at church, so found a good parking space. Got the usual dog food and treats and my ginger-ale, but wandered around forever looking for one of those lint rollers! Finally found one, and by the time I checked out, the church-goers had the check-out lines clogged up. But I got home and decided to rest my watery bones today

I didn't sleep well last night. Turned out the light at 1 AM, then turned it back on at 2 AM; read a little and turned the light out again and had to wake up at 3 AM because I was reaching for my sippy-cup to take a drink, and knocked it onto the floor and couldn't find it! Lights on again. Come to find out it had rolled under the bed to the middle, so I had to get on my knees and use my grabber to coax it out, and then I kind of fell sideways onto my right hip, right in the dog's water dish! After I cussed, I moved onto my back and propped my legs up, trying to decide the best way to get up from that narrow space! I decided how to do it and then did it, but my knees were not at all happy, nor was my right hip and thigh! I never thought about having to do tactical maneuvers to get up from the floor, but I do now! So I cleaned up all the spills and refilled the sippy-cup and I guess it was about 3:30 AM. I did eventually go back to sleep.

I'm pretty much toward the end of watching SHETLAND. It has been quite engrossing! I don't know what I will get into next, but I've gotten several recommendations, so I'm sure I will find something good!

Tomorrow I have to call my car insurance agency to switch it to Florida insurance, and I'll be sending in requests (and paying) for certified proof of just about everything, so I MIGHT be able to secure a Florida DL by the end of NEXT week! Whooo-hooo! And I already know where I'll be going to vote, so that's good!

Joe, I am so happy for both you and your new cat! It sure sounds like the cat sure is happy! 😸

Hello all!

Joe, congrats on getting the "new" cat! Sounds like a good fit for you, AND for the cat! I hope he settles in well.

No Stars, sounds like yesterday you got quite the grand neighborhood tour! I would have enjoyed seeing all the nice trees, too. Has the rain let up? Did you find your hearing aids? How frustrating if you didn't!

Yesterday we packed up the instruments and the salad I'd made, and drove to the memorial jam. It started at 4pm with a short service, then we ate, then we played till, hmmmm, 7:30-ish?? All I know is, it was HOT when we started playing, and it gradually cooled down to being under 100 degrees when we stopped playing, lol! We were in a shaded area, with a fan going to move the air -- though most of the time there was a breeze. Dh got to play bass most of the time, so he was happy. We got to visit with several folks whom we usually don't see at a jam (they came in years past, so to honor the deceased, they came to this one). It was quite a nice jam/visit. The lady would have loved it. She was 90 years old, still insisted on living on her own up to the day she died. Family checked on her daily, said she was bright and spunky as ever the day before.

Today we got up early and headed up to Oak Glen. They are on Day Three of their Wild West Days, and we and fiddler played for Cowboy Church. We sang several hymns, and then did one special number. We were all in the shade, and the temperature was quite nice (at least 10 degrees cooler than at home). Our friend presented the "sermon" (thoughts about Psalms 1). I bought dh some kettle corn from one of the vendors. Then we came home and had a slightly-later-than-usual lunch. Then we took a nap!!

And you are all caught up with our doings! Not much else going on here. Dh is enjoying his oatmeal-dried cherry cookies. :) BUT I now have a few things to get at the grocery store! Will probably go tomorrow.

Have a good evening!

Good evening!

Congrats on the new cat Joe, hope it works out.

Stars, I keep a glass of water by my bedside and I can't tell you how many times I've stilled it.

Worked today and tomorrow is an OT shift. I'm sure that next payday I'll be able to pay cash for my pre-paid cremation. I'm happy for the opportunity to work and not get in debt.

Too bad I hate my job. 🤣
