Summer internships

Hi everyone!

I am beginning my nursing program in exactly two weeks and I cannot wait!!!! Anyways, I have already began to look into summer internships for summer 2014. So far, I have found 3 internships that I am interested in. However, is three enough, or should I plan to apply to more? My choices are a bit limited due to personal preferences. For example, many of these internships require a lot of traveling. So, how many internships should I aim to apply to?

Thank you in advance to all who reply to this!

Find out what the requirements are ... how many applicants apply for each slot ... etc. for each program that interests you. That will give you an idea as to how likely you are to be accepted. Not all programs are alike. For example, I run a program that is limited to BSN students in their final summer before graduation -- and we have approximately 10 applicants for every slot we have available. If the 3 programs you are applying for have odds like that, you may need to keep looking. But if they have trouble filling their available slots and you meet their requirements, that's a whole different story.

Good luck to you.

Hi! Yes , the three programs I have found so far are for BSN students entering their senior year of nursing school. They all seem to have similar requirements eg transcripts, resume and cover letter, as well as letters of recommendation. I am not particularly sure where I could find how many slots are available, as they don't mention it, but I am sure I can get this information from the recruiters?

I live in New York, so I'm pretty sure there are many applicants. Based on pictures that I have seen of past Nurse interns, I have seen from 15-20 students, so so far that is my only indicator. These are all paid internships, so I wouldn't think many applicants are chosen

Thank you for your advice.
