suitable position after tonsillectomy

Hi guys ,

I am kind of confuse about postoperative position for tonsillectomy. In Saunder's it says prone ... but in Kaplan it says ... lateral . What do you think ?

Hi Erandi!

According to NURSING PRACTICE by Margaret F. Alexander, on page 14: to help keep the airway clear by allowing blood and saliva to flow out of the mouth, the patient must be in post-tonsillectomy position (semi-prone).

Hope that helps! Cheers!
