suggestion for TEAS

I would disagree with a lot of your advice, frankly.

Many schools will not accept repeated attempts at the TEAS exam, at least in other states, or will not look at the highest score.

I also found the ATI book to be EXTREMELY helpful (as have many people who post on this forum). It's written EXACTLY like the exam. It's also very easy to understand, IMO, and helps you figure out what areas you need to focus on.

Yes, there were questions on the exam (like A&P stuff) that weren't in the book, and that's where the college courses are very helpful. But to say that the ATI book wasn't helpful at all is misleading.

I was relaying what many of the students had said about the TEAS test and the book. possibly some states follow more closely to the book than others; many of us commented on the fact the test was considerably harder than the book; had it followed the book the test wouldn't have been so difficult. as for retakes, NC has 2 retakes during the months it is given, but this is not the only criteria that determines getting into the program. I do realize every state has their own criteria which was explained by the dept head for the TEAS testing at our school. your advisor will know if your state will allow retakes or not & most prior test takers at your school will know if the test is close to the book or not. those of us who took it the 2nd time did much better. my suggestion is talk to the dept head who gives the TEAS test and no one else. otherwise it is like asking you what Iraq was like when you just watch the military channel. The TEAS is the same in every state. You'll notice the scores are compared nationally, not just by state. Also, repeat policies here in CA vary by school, not just by the state. Several of the programs to which I applied WILL NOT accept repeated attempts, but again, this varies by the program. Some schools also will not accept your highest score or your latest score. Thus it is imperative that people know the rules for their particular program.

I found that the exam and the book were very close. The book served me quite well, as my score reflected as much.

Also, some people DON'T do better the second time, even though they've been exposed to the exam before. Peruse this forum, and you'll see what I mean.

Which book served you well? The ATI book? I just pre-ordered the Teas 5 Mcgraw Hill 2nd edition...

@essyb89, they are both good. I honestly have no idea what the point of this thread is. You'll be fine with the mcgraw and/or ati.

For me, it was the ATI book, which the OP didn't like. From this forum, it looks like the McGraw Hill book is good as well.
