studying for boards

Hi everyone,

I am a new user to this forum. I just graduated from nursing school in December. I am current working as a graduate nurse. I am currently waiting for my authorization to test before signing up for the NCLEX. I have been studying for boards for a while. My question is: How similar are the NCLEX questions to the practice questions found in books such as Kaplan? Any help would be great.

I definitely think Kaplan is the most comparable to NCLEX style questions for the most part. However, I also had some factual type questions on the NCLEX. I used the Mosby comprehensive book also to help me prepare for the boards too. That is beneficial to help you review everything. The best thing to do is to answer as many questions as possible and also look at the rationale because that will also help you understand the why's.

Good luck!

I agree that the Kaplan book/CD is excellent.

In an informal study group through levels 2-4, we all used the Lippincott NCLEX review questions to study for exams (since the book is arranged by content).

I found the Lippincott questions to be more difficult that the NCLEX exam was in reality, which was a good thing in my opinion.

I sat for the exam last Saturday, and the questions were nearly identical in form to those found in all of the NCLEX study guides.

Hope this helps!

John

I also graduated in Dec. and just took my boards on Tues...and found out I passed today! :)

When I studied I used Frye's 3000 Nursing Bullets to brush up on important nsg. facts! I also used Saunder's Q & A Review w/CD and the Kaplan tests on their CD. They told us at Kaplan we should do between 3000-7000 questions. Who does 7000 questions.....I don't know??!!

I'm sure you'll do GREAT on the NCLEX! Study some everyday to keep the material fresh in your mind....but don't get burnt out! Best of luck!!!

Thank you all for your support. I now have an actual date to take the boards and I am nervous. I am taking practice tests and using my Kaplan book.

Thanks.

Hello Obnurs

When is your date to test so we can pray for you?

God Bless,
