Study Tips?

Published

I am about to take my first nursing exam and to say the least I am scared out of my mind. I have been studying SO much then I take practice tests and fail every single one. I can explain so much about what I've learned and read but when it comes to these test questions I fail them. I know it's a different way of thinking and I read a few posters in other topics saying test scores will improve as I get more used to the style of questions. But is there anything I can do to prepare? How can I get thinking in a way that will help me pass this test? I am getting SO anxious over all of this to the point where I'll probably have a panic attach when my teacher hands me the test.

Welcome to AN! Answering NCLEX questions will take time to get used to, and one of the best ways to get used to them is to simply keep answering questions. You can purchase various NCLEX review books for practice questions that include rationales as to why the correct answer is the correct one. However, one thing to remember is that these questions don't ask you to simply memorize and regurgitate the information in your textbook but to apply that information to nursing scenarios.

Thank you so much! I studied my material and then I did a TON of NCLEX style questions online and from the study book I bought. I passed the first test with an 88%! Thank you for your tips!
