How should I study for my first exam.

1. I have the content guide.

Should I purchase a Fundamental Nursing text or NCLEX Book? if so may I purchase older editions to say money?

Are the guides on ebay useful? which seller? Many of them look like the old NC1, not sure.

any suggestions? how did you begin your journey?

I have been spending the last 2 weeks reading and reading all EC stuff, getting my application together and trying to piece together how this all works. I am now feeling like a fish out of water :(

i bought the recommended textbooks for each exam on ebay...i felt that was the cheapsest way to go bought an edition or two back than the one out now. i also bought and NCLEX book to help me out with studying.

hi, I would advise you to purchase the required books or at least check them out of the library. there is a site that also rents textbooks, CHEGG.COM

its kinda normal to feel like a fish out of water. but you will get you air legs :)

just remember that this is an independent study, so build your study time around you. think about what time is best for you. do you have a room reserved strictly for your studying? make sure that everyone respects your study time and stick with the schedule you set for yourself. and remember to TAKE A BREAK! its okay to miss one day of studying, but get back with it the next day.

in my opinion, dont worry about the nclex book untill after your CPNE, you will have enough reading to do with the study guide. whatever is in the studyguide that is what you want to be studying. and by all means if you can, purchase the practice exams. they really are worth the money!!!!!

hope this helps

I'm using text books. You can get some good deals on new and used text books on ebay, amazon and other used book sites. Some of my used texts are just as good as brand new ones.
