Have any of you been a student working at a camp, or supervised a student working at your camp?
There is a very good chance that I'll be working at a camp this summer as a nurse assistant. The job description, from what the director said is pretty much being a mommy, first aid, checking for sore throats, and dispensing meds per MD orders. She said that you get a full day (24 hours) off per week along with 2-3 nights off per week, when not on duty, or if it's slow, the camp and it's facilities are available for use, the pay is great, and it comes at the end of the summer.
I did a little mini interview today, and was told to email my references, then come up with some questions and call back in a couple of days so we may be able to "tie things up."
What types of questions should I be asking? I already know that I would be working with one other nurse, there are about 180 campers there for the entire summer, room and board is provided, free time is as I stated above, pay is as I stated above, the schedule is mostly worked out between the two nurses, there is an MD there the entire summer, the population is predominately Jewish, but it's not a Jewish camp, and it's no problem that I'm not Jewish -- there are campers and other staff who aren't etc.
What else should I know before I go ahead and make the decision?
