Are you referring to the process of getting F1 visa or just the embassy issuance of F1 visa?
The former is lenghty due to university interviews, language + educational evaluation and financial verifications or sponsorship. If you passed all the university requirements for admission then the university will file a F1 petition at USCIS. The processing is 15 to 45 days. The approved documents will be mailed (3-7 days) to you by the school and this documents will be brought to the embassy during your interview. You can now set a date at the embassy for your interview, probably 2 weeks after you will be interviewed. If you are luckily granted the visa, then wait for 1 to 2 weeks for the delivery to your house. The approved documents contains the date of your admission to the university, so you must be in the US before that date.
Good luck.

at miracosta college Oceanside California.. its the nearest school for me. do you have a relative there? or if you have a relative in US you should enroll on a closest school to your house. about the course, im still thinking what course I'll take. the estimated amount is 15,375 dollar. plus your financial sponsor should have a bank account. a fruitful 2010 for us nurses:redpinkhe

is it hard to apply in miracosta college? i am looking at NYU but currently they are closed for the fall semester. please do update me. i am very interested. :)
i haven't submit my application yet, coz my family is waiting for our immigrant visa. if ever I'll pursue it. i'll inform you:)
thank you. is it true that lots of students here in the philippines who are applying for student visa are getting denied?
i dunno. maybe if they are suspecting that you have another agenda while staying there you really have to show or prove them that you'll just go there for further education. lest's not lose hope.:)

In California there are issues regarding classes that normally are full are being cut. Some schools aren't even offering summer school due to the budget cuts. Right now California isn't the place to apply for school. You may want to do some research and maybe find a state where the budget cuts aren't so bad. Another thing you may want to do is to contact someone from the campus so they can give you more updated information. Good Luck
You don't need student visa if you have an immigrant visa.
