Struggling greatly with interviews

Published

I feel like I don't know how to interview anymore. Where can I find good resources/advice on how to interview for a nursing job? I feel like I'm not speaking intelligently enough about nursing and not answer the questions with anything substantial. I choke with the behavioral based questions no matter how much I prepare ahead of time. I try so hard to present myself as nice and friendly that I think I'm trying too hard and end up appearing over-eager and talk too much. I'm a fairly experienced RN but very insecure about how little I feel I've actually done or know.

Sounds like a general confidence issue rather than just an interview problem.

You say you're experienced but then you say you've done very little. Surely you see how that's not logical?

Have you thought about seeing a professional to deal with your confidence issues? A counsellor or a life coach? You've lasted this long in a very tough profession. That says a lot about how much you're worth.

As for "talking too much" -  I've been on the other side and interviewed people in past rôles and believe me, better to have something to say than the people who interview with 3 word answers.

I wish you well.

The confidence and self love/worth issue is something we have  all struggled with. Be patient with yourself. Try doing some mirror work for practice. Hope this helps
