Stroke course

While applying for positions, there is a question that asks if I have taken a stroke course or if I have a stroke certification. Can I take a course and get certified as a new grad? Or is it kind of like a specialty certification?

The stroke course is free. I need to finish the course because I tried to run it today and started forgetting things. I want to start doing it normally

Google NIHSS for National Institute of Health Stroke Scale. This is a free course offered by NIH so that you can achieve a certificate in stroke assessment. There are different levels to the course, everyone starts at level A and you can improve your certification to level B in 12 months. You can print out your certificate and have that to show your prospective employer. I just went through all this, I found the site a little difficult to navigate, so be careful!! Most acute care facilities that are a "stroke center" are required to have this to remain certified and receive the funding they require. It was not difficult, it was challenging, look at the patient samples carefully before you answer the questions. Good Luck.
