Strange question

This is a strange question but I’d be grateful for your input.  I am an RN and am scheduled for an interview tomorrow for an infusion nurse position.  The Hr department have advised me that as part of the interview process I will be required to start an IV on the hiring manager.  I was somewhat taken aback with that knowledge and wonder if anyone else had encountered such a request.

Actually this is not an unusual request. I've had to do that twice in the past at interviews. They are looking to see if you are following hand hygiene, explaining to the "patient" what you are going to do, able to assemble the equipment, etc. My only advice is if you are not familiar w/the type of needle system/IV they provide, say so before attempting the stick.
