Stomach bug help, please

Yes, I do know this is not a medical advice BB. Just thought there might be a general rule of thumb on that sort of thing, and I knew you guys would know if that were the case.

That happened to my son when he was about that age. He woke me up by throwing up all over me in bed.

I called the pediatrician after I gave him a drink of water and he threw up immediately. He said to continue to give him water, because he could become dehydrated and he will keep a little of the water down that he drinks and thats better than throwing up and having absolutely no liquids. He got better that day.

Thats just my experience as a mom and what his doc said. So just giving advice on what I would do if it happened again. I would continue to give water and maybe a popsicle (just not a red, purple or blue one!!) to keep him somewhat hydrated while we wait for it to (hopefully) pass. I have been blessed with kids (now 5 & 7) that have only been to the doc for check ups, rx for exema and hand and foot disease (which takes no meds to cure, just time). Wow, just realized how blessed I am.

Thank you for the post! My little boy slept all night. I decided to just hold off on calling the nurse and on giving the Benadryl until I could see if he REALLY needed it or not (He had had tons of allergy problems the night before.), and he did fine without it. When he got up this morning, he seemed okay, drank some Pedialyte and ate one cracker, and he still hasn't thrown up anymore. He's playing and seems okay. The other little girl at daycare that apparently passed the bug to him recovered quickly, too, so it must be a pretty short-lived virus. Now, let's all pray that his sister doesn't get it over the weekend!
