i'm from the cleveland (and also akron) area but i was wondering...where do you buy your stethoscopes?? do you just order them online or what? i'm going to be starting my STNA training this summer and i'm going to need a stethoscope.

allheart.com has very reasonable prices... including on the Littman stethoscopes which a lot of people on here seem to like : )
it's good to try different models out in person as everyone is different & will end up hearing better with a different scope!

Find the stethoscope you're interested in and then check out ebay. I just bought a Littman cheaper than anyplace else there.

I got my Littman as a gift when I started nursing school. I love it! I won't use any other stethoscope.

thanks! the littman stethoscopes seem a little pricey except for a few on allheart.com which i might consider...i was told not to buy a super expensive stethoscope at the moment...now, i was also told that dual tubing gives better acoustics and i know that every person is different, but in your opinion does having dual tubing make a huge difference?
and this is a little irrelevant to the topic, but what about some comfortable nursing shoes? i know allheart.com carries them but i would really like to try them on at a store...any suggestions?

as for stethoscopes -- littman does some more basic models that can be quite reasonable. even these models can out-perform some other brands. just my personal experience.
as for shoes -- i like to alternate between my Saucony's (best arch support, comfort, breathability I've found), my Birkenstock "Tokyos" (clogs with heel strap) and Crocs Professionals (no holes on top). i think they're all great shoes, but alternating seems to keep my feet happier & gives the shoes a chance to air out. but most of all, I miss my combat boots Hooah!
