Stethoscope covers

Does anyone know where I could get a nice stethoscope cover? Some of the ones I have found online are a little too "busy" for my liking.

Thanks in advance.

That website has them, and you can order solid colors too. I have sewn several :) lay your stetho out on poster board, draw an outline, giving a one inch allowance on each side. sew the sides, sew elastic around the bottom, and a snap button or velcro at the top. I have one to match each of my scrub sets, and they wash really nicely.

Good Luck!

Hello Brandy,

I would like to say thank you for the tip on how to measure and sew the covers. I am going to test it out to see how well I can do. I think I can do it if I can so the scrub tops and bottoms.

Thanks

Something I forgot...

You might want to trace part of the ear pieces too, and the velcro (or button snap) snaps between the two ear pieces.

here is a picture that may give you a little better idea of what the finished product would look like. It is a drawing... I think it helps.

Happy Sewing :)

Just an FYI to you, JACHO fined the hospital I worked at one time for stethoscope covers.

Better look into it before you purchace this. They said it was unsanitary. I happen to agree..

howdy gang:

I must agree that I feel they are super fashionable, but also agree with the sanitary issue. Our hospital is trying to enforce the issue of not wearing scope covers. Infection controll evidently had a big issue with these , espeically the CRNAs in the OR (d/t sterility of the OR)...........

I also agree that you should check with your hosptial protocol r/t this issue............

If you can wear them....... MAKE THEM FASHIONABLE! Make a STATEMENT!!!!

Good luck, and hope the pattern works for ya! :roll

Check with the hospital before you make or purchase them...also certain units, such as ours, they are a big no no. If you want to try to save your tubing without the cover, use armor-all on it...it protects it from hairproducts, oil and sweat :)
