Sterile Procedures....validations

just wondering if anyone had some tips for me?? i have my last validation next saturday and it will either be a sterile dressing wound change or a sterile catheter, either man or woman.....

i was just hoping that maybe someone had a pointer or anything they would like to share that will help me pass my validation??!!

thank you and wish me luck!:heartbeat

these validations when they are done in a lab are really pretty much like performances on the part of the students. if you have a procedure list the best way to prepare is to treat it like the script of a play--and i mean that literally. memorize it. and, like a play, do the procedure over and over and over until you can do it with your eyes closed. that is how actors learn their lines and the blocking (the action) of a play so they know the words and where they need to stand and their movements without thinking. the movie noises off illustrates this point. unlike actors, however, you also need to learn the principles and rationales for what you are doing. all becomes much clearer when you actually do these things on live patients. for testing purposes in a lab, however, memorizing works just fine. it often helps to have another person stand opposite you and read the procedure off step by step as you perform each step during practice.
