state boards

hi every one can anyone tell me how the boards r set up... meaning r they multiple choice?? feel in the blank??

Yes the majority is multiple choice. There can be fill-in-blanks and select all that apply. No two test are alike. Sometimes you can be tested on one subject and sometimes on all subjects. Most answers can have 2 answers that sound right and you have to pick your best answer. Friends tell me how it was for them. I will be taking mine soon.

Most questions are mutiple choice, there may be a diagram that you may have to identify a disease process; here in New York, most of the fill in the blanks were math calculations. Pick ALL that APPLY, or there may be a skill where you may have to place the steps in the order that they should be performed (you have to move the mouse around). Lippincott CDs are good with the picture thing and the new format. Saunders was great too, but they didn't have pictures on their CDs to practice with. I was so grateful that I didn't get any pics...I didn't do so great with the practice ones...

you can see samples of nclex and nclex-pn questions at these websites. the questions are all multiple choice and they are what are called application type questions. this means that you may be given some facts, but you will need to "apply" certain specific principles that are appropriate to the situation in the question in order to be able to chose the correct answer. you need to use sound principles of nursing and the nursing process. this is done to test your ability to think critically as well as test your knowledge of nursing.
