Nursing Students Online Learning

I'm going to start excelsior next week and was wondering if anyone else is enrolled. I was told you have to completeyour pre req's through excelsior in order to start in the program at ISU.

I'm concerned and confused and was wondering if anyone could help me...especially before i begin this program!!!

Wouldn't it be easier to take the classes with ISU....when i asked the rep from excelsior he told me that they were partnered with ISU and i would have to go through them anyway!!

They also are giving me all of these classes that i don't think i really need...someone please help!!:uhoh3:

Hi! There are lots of EC students here on our Distance Learning Forum for Nursing

I'll move your post there where you'll hopefully get some input. Good luck.

It sounds to me like you talked to a rep from one of the many publishing companies selling Excelsior College study guides, such as Rue or The College Network. An Excelsior rep would not tell you that you need to go through them to get classes to attend ISU. Excelsior College is a fully accredited program that offers most (if not all) of the classes that you need to complete the nursing degree with them. You may choose to take some clasess at other acredited colleges that would apply to your degree but they don't specificy the colleges. For example, I completed microbiology and life span psychology at one of the community colleges near my home and applied it to my ASN at Excelsior.

Let me ask you this, do you want to get your degree from ISU or Excelsior? I would call each of the schools and ask to talk to someone in admissions. They can explain the programs to you. FYI...you do not need to buy the study guides to get through the Excelsior program. You can use their free course guides, along with the suggested textbooks.

Good luck!
