Starting a Nursing Position - Should I keep my minimum wage job?

Published

Hi Everyone !

I've been debating for a while but I want some opinions:

Im a new grad starting a FT Temporary 6 Months position as an RN, since this is my first job and it is temporary, I dont know whether I should try to keep my job as a cashier a little longer or should I just focus my time as an RN..

Any opinion appreciated :) !

Are you in an area where it is hard to obtain a new job? Either as an RN or another low paying job? Unless this is the case or you really love your cashier job I would quit and focus on becoming an excellent RN. If it is hard to get another job, or if you have absolutely no savings then I might ask if you could drop your hours at the cashier job temporarily.

In the end only you know your situation.

I would probably jump ship and try to save a little money during the six month assignment. Staying on good terms with your previous employer wouldn't be a bad idea, though.

Thanks for the input guys ^_^

So im from Toronto (Canada)

The nursing position im up for is in a unionized hospital (I will be building seniority & have access to internal job postings).

I guess its hard for me to choose between working 50~ hours / a week for the next 6 months or quit and have uncertainty of the future :(!
