Starting my own business

Published

Hi I'm 35 and been a RN for 11 years now. I'm really thinking about starting my own business. But not sure how to go about getting it started. I would like to provide a wellness program for hospital employees. Starting off with foot massages. I know working 10-12 hours a day at the hospital can be very tiring and draining and how nice it would be to,get a 15 minute foot massage on your break or lunch break. I just don't know where to start... Also I'm not sure a hospital will allow me to bring in this type of services... Any advice is welcomed.

I say you go for it. Try something part time and see if you can make it work. Slowly build your clientele. You may have to do some free demonstrations for nurses at first. Meet with the managers and show them how you are able to bring benefit to their employees. I like the idea and think you can make it work if you are persistent and willing to do some free demonstrations just to get your hands on people at first. Make sure you are sharing what you offer on Facebook with other nurses who you are friends with as well.

That sounds great! Thanks so much for the advice and encouragement.

Sounds like a great idea! There is SO much you can do by starting to build your body of work that speaks to your expertise ( also known as personal branding). Also, be strategic about the Networking events you attend as well as your audience targeting. Keep us posted!
