start classes on the 9th!!

Published

Well, the time has come, almost, my classes start on July 9th and i'm super excited and very, very, nervous. i don't know what to expect and i'm already having doubts that i can make it thru and pass while trying to raise 2 small kids and try not to have to work while going thru the classes. this is a huge step for me and i'm very proud of myself for getting this far, but now that i've quit my job to attend school, i feel like i've let my family down because i don't bring home any income and won't for awhile. i know in the end, if i'm successful in passing, it will open up alot more opportunities for me and my family, and right now that is the only thing keeping me going. maybe i'm rambling because i'm nervous, so thanks to anyone that can read and understand what i'm trying to say.

anyways, i will return on wednesday with an update on the first day of class and if i've had a panic attack yet.:chuckle

Yes please keep us updated on how everything goes.

I also left my job to focus on my studies (I start aug. 18th) and I know exactly how you feel. Although I don't have any kids, I just got married three mnths ago and I feel as if I am letting him down (even though it was his idea) by not working. I think really my fear is of failure. I am so worried that I will not do well, and he will be disappointed and feel like everything we sacrificed was a waste. I guess I will have to use that as my motivation though, but it is scary because he is POSITIVE that I am so smart and will excel in the program and i'm not as sure so, naturally, it only adds to the pressure which may ultimately be the end of me!!!

I hope you do well and make your family proud. This is an investment in your future. You should keep a journal so that I can live vicariously through you!!! LOL (JK!!).

Good Luck

Good luck! I know how you feel about feeling like your letting your family down by not working but seriously it will be better for you I am sure. I am lucky to not have to work when school starts in August, not that it isn't doable but if you don't have to I wouldn't. I am sure you will do well. You made it this far. Keep us posted on how classes are going. I wish I was starting already but after it starts I am sure I will wish it was summer vacation again lol. Good luck!

This Friday my class has its pinning ceremony. Its been a long, tough year for most of the students.

I left my job right before class started and worried, like you, that I was going to let my family down by not being able to provide for them. Other students worked, but I didn't because I wanted to be able to study and focus on nursing. Those other students wouldn't have worked if they didn't have to, it takes a lot of time to go to school, study, care for your family, and hold down a job.

I am glad I made the choice to go to school. Now I will be able to provide so much more, and go on to a bridge program and become an RN. We have recruiters coming to the classroom giving us free pens, candy bars and other stuff trying to get us to work for them. That is a wonderful feeling, especially for me. Though I worked as a reporter/photographer, there wasn't much out there, and definitely not the pay I can expect to recieve now. The best part is that this is something I have always wanted.

Stick with it and you will be amazed at the confidence and skills you acquire, the friendships you'll make, and the respect you'll recieve.

There's no better feeling........

Good luck and hang in there!!!!:pntlft:

Hey I start classes tomorrow too! I think its natural to be super nervous about something this important. Just hope to be able to keep up with everything I have a big family but I am not going to work while going to school. Best of luck to you ,we can compare notes after tomorrow!
