Standard of Practice?

My neighbor is a school nurse in a school district that is 20 miles away from her home and the school that her child attends. The other day, I witnessed her give an injection (immunization) to her son that she had brought from her work. She said that there was a "standing doctor's order" at her school for immunizations.

Does this sound legitimate? Why wouldn't her son just receive the immunization at his school or at the doctor's office?

Sounds very irregular. Most students who require immunizations will need to get it at their primary care phy. or the public health dept.

If the school offers immunizations at the school, the student would/should need to be present in order to recieve the shot. To bring the syringe with the serum in it home and you give the shot yourself, would be un-professional and probably negligent at best. Sounds strange to me. :trout

I received all my shots at school beginning kindergarten. everyone did, the entire school. My dad was district super. I will inquire for details..

i have brought my kids and husbands flu shots home and gave them...
