OMG. today was the 1st day of class. Our instructor told us that we now were student nurses and to start thinking like we were LPN's. Do you feel like a nursing student OR a student nurse?:

I remember my first day of class and the instructor making the same comment to "start thinking like nurses":) During the next year believe it or not your mode of thinking will indeed change.
At some points during the next year you will feel so overwhelmed you will doubt that you will make it. Just keep tunnel vision going and focus on learning and the reward (light) at the end of the tunnel and you will do fine! Try to find positive people to associate with and distance yourself from negative ones. If your class is anything like mine... many will not make it unfortunately. We had only 9 graduate from the original 22. As long as you are dedicated and have your priorities in order you will be fine:)
Good luck to you and have a great day!
thanks much!

Just curious, how has your few days of school gone so far? Is it absolutely so intense or are you finding it easy to be able to study all of the material given to you?

I am on my 2nd week. We had a test last night, and I got an A:yeah:
I work full time, so my life is now work, study, study, study, school. LOL! It is a lot of material, but I am already finding, that if you listen intently during lecture, ask educated questions, and study your little heart out, it's doable! I was so scared, but now since I'm somewhat getting how things run, I am actually having a blast so far. I do know that if someone isn't 100% committed, they will not make it. I have already had invitations to go out for dinner and things of that nature, and I have had to decline every single one, because I had to study. (another test Monday, AND Wednesday next week!) Good luck!
I know how you feel, and hope the best for you 2!

I'm loving my LPN classes so far. It's been all lecture; tomorrow is our first lab. The instructors seem really good. I'm in a very strict program--they have very high standards, but they also have amazing NCLEX pass rates, so it's going to be worth it.
I was absolutely freaked out after orientation last Friday, thinking about everything I was going to have to do. I'm just trying to take things one day at a time, one day at a time and it seems to be working so far.

Yeah. One day at a time is the best way to do it. We lost 16 out of our original 49 so far. I graduate in 12 days. It has been a rough ride. You basically say BYE to everyone and everything you love and just focus on nursing. Keep your up and focus on your goal. A big problem I seen in our class was the girl would get to emotional over there boyfriends, husbands, and so on complaining about not getting enough time with them. When they would give in their grades would suffer, so tell your significant others to prepare to have a year where they barely see you cause better safe than sorry.

hehe. i just wanted to say i have the whole little countdown clock on myspace. i started it the first day of class and now it is down to 12!! lol
lol I remember when we got to 100 days left of class... the one true friend I had in nursing school and I were counting those bad boys down!! I am going Monday to get some info on more classes to continue education for my RN... From what I have heard LPN programs are actually harder than RN sometimes. I sure hope that is the case:) I have to take several prereq's though.. gonna take em slow and easy. I don't want to go to school full time anymore!
All i can say is DITTO on the full time part. whew!!!
