St.Christophers?

Published

I'm graduating in May, and I applied there couple of weeks ago for a position in the Continuing Care Nursery (1 app for night shift, and 1 app for day).

Yesterday received a rejection letter for the night position (We are sorry to inform you...not being considered at this time).

For the day shift application, the letter said something to the effect of, "We are reviewing your application, and will call you if we want to schedule an interview."

I'm thinking this is a good sign, but really am not sure. Had I not gotten the first rejection-version I probably would think this was a "nice" way of saying we'll keep your resume on file - in other words a rejection.

So, my questions are---

For anyone who has applied recently: Did you receive an email like this, or just a phone call? If you did get the email, how long before they scheduled an interview?

anyone working there currently - do you like working there? Do you know what kind of orientation do they offer (length, classes, etc.)

I hate to ask neurotic-type questions, I'm just getting a little anxious about the job situation in the phila area, especially since I'm in an ADN program...

I graduated in May, was told I didn't qualify for ICU. All the positions like med/surg and CCU give the same responses u got all the time. They keep posting new jobs but I think they want experienced nurses. The recruiters are impossible to reach. Philly is pretty much on a hiring freeze.

Thanks for that info. Do you mind my asking, when did you apply? Was it after graduation, or close to? I'm just wondering if that had an impact. The position I applied for specifically said RN license or GN permit, whereas the others didn't.

I have 9 months of Med Surg experience and also applied to St. Chris. I got a similar email that said: We are currently reviewing all applications and will contact you should we wish to schedule an interview with you.

I am surprised at how difficult Susan McFalls has been to reach lately, because I used to be able to get in touch with her with little difficulty. I think the email is a standard, yeh we have your resume and we don't have a reason to say no to you just yet.

I really hope Philly isn't on a hiring freeze. I need a job to help pay for the expenses of my new baby.

I applied after I got my GN license in the mail back in July. I was really hoping to work and take a hosp. NCLEX course or something like that...yeah right...So I took my NCLEX and passed the 1st try in Nov. Still nothing. I have no idea why it's so hard. Job hunting was my ritualistic job; 9a-5p back then...IDK, very frustrated. And the e-mail is an automaticaly generalted one to say they recieved the app. Then you get another auto-gen. e-mail saying "sorry". The "sorry" e-mail only happens once in a while. Usually you don't hear anything back. They don't answer/return phone calls.

If u have a BSN, u may want to look into Penn. From their requirements, it seems like they only hire BSN grads.

I have a BSN. Are you talking about Pennsylvania hospital or hosp. of university of penn? I think theyre different. Does either place have pediatrics? ReallyI'd be happy with almos any part time job now, but peds would make me so happy.

They are one and the same. Pennsylvania Hospital is owned by University of Pennsylvania. www.pennhealth.com I don't know what they have available, but their descriptions almost always end with "BSN required" or "BSN preferred" good luck
