Spingfield, MO

I have been looking at CRNA school in southern IL and Missouri and came across one in Springfield. MO (Southwest Missouri State is the old name of the school.......I can't remember the new name). I'm seriously considering this school. I lived in Springfield 4 years ago for a duration of 2 years. I know the quality of life down there is very good and the cost of living is also very good which is why I'm looking at this school over SIUE (Edwardsville, IL...close to where I grew up) and Barnes Jewish in St. Louis.....also close to where I grew up. I do plan on applying to all three though.

Has anyone gone to this school or heard anything about it and the program? What was your expierience like at this school? If you could do it all over again would go there or another place?

Because of the cost of living down there and the location (I would be 3 1/2 hrs from Kansas City where the in-laws live and about 4 hrs from St. Louis which is my home) this school is getting the most consideration at this point.

I would love to read any information you can give me about this school and the program.

The name of the school is Southwest Missouri School of Anesthesia at Missouri State University. I am starting the program in January. The program is 30 months. There are some great aspects about the program. The clinicals are done at one hospital, not multiple sites like other programs. Also, the entire program costs about $7000. One drawback is that you can only work the first semester. But I think the program is great. If you have more questions, I would be happy to answer them. Definitely give it some thought.

I have completed almost one year of training at st johns. They have a new website, you should check it out. It is a very inexpensive program and they provide free health/dental insurance for you and your family. By the time you are done, you can expect to have performed 1800-2000 anesthetics. The classes are small and you only have one clinical site. I have been happy with my training so far. PM me if you have any specific questions
