speech

I have been a Lpn for a few years and want to go for my Rn but I am terrified of public speaking. Any advice? Also do you have to give speeches in other classes?

Practice practice practice! You should practically memorized it after practicing so much. Make note cards for emergency use. Watch your timing because people tend to talk faster when nervous and speech class tends to grade on sticking to the time limit. When you do the speech, pick several points in the room (right, left, back, front, and middle) and then look just above the heads of people at those points periodically throughout your speech. It will make you less nervous that you aren't looking them directly in the eyes but it will appear that you are to the instructor who is grading you. Good Luck!
