Soo frustrated..

I graduated in August and still have yet to find a job or even get an interview. This is getting super annoying. I have been looking everywhere..hospitals, rehabs, treatment centers, LTC, hospice, home health, etc. I put a packet together with my resume, transcripts, reference letters, evaluations, and some sample care plans. Tried to give them to several hospitals around the LV area and most of the people wouldn't even take them! They said "we can't accept that..you have to apply online." I don't know what to do. Then a couple days ago I got a call from a rehab center. We set up an interview. I was so excited. Spent all day preparing for it. Tried not to get my hopes up about the job but was excited to finally get interview experience. Long story short..they cancelled the morning of the interview. I guess they didn't look at my resume carefully enough because they want someone with experience.. Is everyone else having this hard of a time finding jobs?

yep, job market has sucked since 2008

My recommendation is that you apply online and then print copies of your resume and go to the floors. The hospital I work at currently has an HR manager than in my own opinion is less than desirable. I've seen several people (even travelers who work on our floor) wait MONTHS for him to do his job. They finally went to our manager for help. If the manager has your resume and knows your face, you'll have a better chance. So hit the floors running and good luck! It helps if you have connections too. Don't be afraid to use your friends to find that "foot in the door."

It took me 150 online applications before i figured this out, but what i down load to the resume section, is a specialized coverletter, resume, letters of recommendation, my references, and you can add your transcript if it is really good.

Just try to stand out!!!

Try here in Maryland, there are plenty of hospitals here and nursing homes, I know they hire new grads. Just think if you will like the weather here.
