So, what's your schedule like?

Hello to all CRNA's!!! I am a LPN, in a RN bridge program now, with aspirations of one day becoming a CRNA (since i became a LPN).

I was just interested in your schedule, how many days a week do you work, and how many hours do you typically work in a day? Are you salary paid? I currently work saturday and sunday 12 hour shifts (a baylor program that pays me full time pay), and i have a prn job where i work 1-2 days per week at my discresion.

Does bieng a CRNA offer flexible work hours?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and answers!!!

Not a CRNA here but I know the schedule of the CRNAs in one of the small hospitals where I work. We have 3 CRNAs and no MDAs and they are not hospital employees. They work in two week blocks. For two weeks one does Mon-Fri 8 hour days in the OR, no call. Then for two weeks one is on call 24/7 but has no scheduled cases. The they are off for two weeks. They seem to really love their schedule and I can see why.

Schedules are extremely variable, especially when compared to RNs. You can get a Monday to Friday 7-3 job, three 12-hour shifts, 16-hour shifts (work two days one week and three the next), or many other possibilities. Some places do a week on week off. OB can do 24 hour shifts, working two days a week.

There is something for everyone, even different call schedules. Surgery centers often take no call. Small rural hospitals may take call every other day.

I work Monday to Friday 7 to whenever cases are done, usually between noon and 3.

Wow! Thanks for the responses!!! I love the flexability of nursing, so it seems like it just gets better!
