So I have a question about working in compact states

Also, a compact license only lets you work across state borders without getting a license in that state. If you move to a new state, then you still need to go through the whole process of getting your RN license in that state. It would only be if you still lived in TX, but commuted to AZ that your TX compact license would be valid. But anytime you are working in another state, you are subject to the rules of that state, not your home state.

I am a FNP licensed in Texas where we have zippo autonomy. If I go to Arizona where NPs work independently and is a compact state which state rules apply? Can I right Rx's in Arizona without a collaborative physician? The TX BON states that you have to abide by the rules of the state you are working in but when these rules are much more laxed than the state you are licensed in which rule applies?[/quote']

Go to the board of nursing of the state you want to work. Look for instructions for license by endorsement. Every state has their own application process. Often will involve transcripts, sometimes work experience.

There was a thread a while back on all nurses "best states to work as an np" or something like this. You may be able to find it with a search.
